This week the children have been studying Judaism and learning about Hanukkah. They have learnt about the story of the oil lamp in the Temple as well as ways that the Jewish community celebrate the Festival of Lights.

The children thought about their families in today’s collective worship. They thought about who is part of their family and why they are special to them. The children helped plan and set up the collective worship.
Today Year 3 had a visit from a Warburtons representative to deliver a workshop on healthy eating. She discussed with the children the importance of eating fruit and vegetables as well as a variety of other food groups to sustain a healthy, balanced diet. Over the past few weeks, we have been looking at persuasive language in Literacy. Children we given the task to persuade others to be for or against an ice cream machine in the lunch hall. Year 1 and 2 have been looking at different dinosaur teeth and how they are different depending on whether a dinosaur was a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore. We have been sorting the teeth into the correct hoops. We then also matched the type of dinosaur to carnivore or herbivore.
Reception class have begun their journey in learning to read and write. Each morning they follow Read Write Inc phonics and practice the sounds they learnt throughout the day. They have made an excellent start and Mrs Wadey and I are very proud of them all.
In today’s class collective worship the children thought about how they are special.
