Year 4 children have had a great morning so far learning some more about the Vikings. So far, we have looked at Viking Shields, weapons and protection, long boats, raids, treasure, how the Vikings treated Monks and Viking clothing.

Year 6 had a fantastic Judo session yesterday where they focused on the main purpose of Judo and how to carry out several judo moves. Year 4 enjoyed a taster judo session, playing some fun games and learning some fantastic self defence tricks.
Well done to all of the girls who participated in the Cheerleading Festival at Gateshead Leisure Centre last Wednesday. They worked super hard every Wednesday night in after school club to prepare for the festival and did St Anne’s proud on the day.
Year 4 are participating in an Operation Encompass workshop learning about emotions and empathy. We discussed different types of emotion and how to deal and regulate our emotions. We also talked about ways we could be more empathetic. We had a fantastic start to our day today at St. Anne’s as we got together as a whole school and took part in Joe Wick’s live video to get children moving for Children in Need. Year 4 participated in the skipping festival alongside 6 other schools. We learnt a wide range of skipping techniques and we look forward to using them back in the playground at school. They all gave 100 percent and tried really hard!
Year 4 visited the Roman fort at Birdoswald where they learnt about Roman life and how the wall was constructed. After a rainy morning outside discovering the forts, year 4 got to discover further facts about the Romans and had a go at designing some forts and reading Roman signals in the interactive area.
Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed the Sports Leadership Training at Cardinal Hume. The children were a credit to the school, showing everyone how committed, hard working, polite and well behaved they all were. We are looking forward to them putting their new skills into action at our Sports Council.
Year 3 had a great afternoon at Cardinal Hume taking part in a variety of sporting activities with other schools in the local area. Here are some photos of us getting stuck in!
