The children in Year 5 have been learning about the Sacrament of Marriage in RE. They have worked in small groups to prepare a Class Collective Worship about the topic. It was a beautiful and very thoughtful liturgy.
Yesterday Year 5 went to the Great North Museum to consolidate their learning about Space and the Solar System. Year 5 have been working hard to learn the poem ‘We Shall Keep the Faith’. The children have been working on perfecting their performances focusing on their expression, volume, speed, rhythm and actions. The children also used the ipads to research suitable background music to support their performances.
Year 5 worked superbly as a team to create a collective worship in honour of the New York Terror Attack 31.10.17. The children worked in small groups and each group produced a section of the collective worship. It was a beautiful liturgy with some really thoughtful ideas and words from the children.
Yesterday, Year 5 were invited to participate in an Athletics Festival at Cardinal Hume. The children were very well behaved and had a fun afternoon filled with activities.
In Year 5 we have been learning about the famous artist Andy Warhol. The children found out about his life as well as looking at some of his work. In English, Year 5 have been learning the popular Polish Legend, The Cobbler and the Dragon. They have researched the story as well as other stories about dragons. Today the children have worked in groups to story map this Legend and went on to perform their part of the story to the class.
This week in Science Year 5 have been learning about the Phases of the Moon. They made spinners and tested their partner on different phases by giving clues.
