Year 5 worked superbly as a team to create a collective worship in honour of the New York Terror Attack 31.10.17. The children worked in small groups and each group produced a section of the collective worship. It was a beautiful liturgy with some really thoughtful ideas and words from the children.
Yesterday, Year 5 were invited to participate in an Athletics Festival at Cardinal Hume. The children were very well behaved and had a fun afternoon filled with activities.
In Year 5 we have been learning about the famous artist Andy Warhol. The children found out about his life as well as looking at some of his work. The children have based their worked on Andy Warhol’s Pop Art and below their talents are shown. They began by copying their portrait from a photograph. In English, Year 5 have been learning the popular Polish Legend, The Cobbler and the Dragon. They have researched the story as well as other stories about dragons. Today the children have worked in groups to story map this Legend and went on to perform their part of the story to the class.
This week in Science Year 5 have been learning about the Phases of the Moon. They made spinners and tested their partner on different phases by giving clues.

Year 5 have been allocated a display board which they are allowed to decorate with their fabulous work. Year 5 have thoroughly enjoyed their end of year buffet which has lasted 2 days! It has been an absolute pleasure teaching you all since joining St Anne’s and I wish you all the very best going into Year 6! Mrs O’Halloran ☺️
Year 5 competed against local schools at a qwik cricket tournement at Gateshead Fell Cricket Club. The children were an excellent representation of St Anne’s and did fantastic, coming an astonishing 3rd out of 40 teams! Go St Anne’s!!!
Year 5 visited the Discovery Museum where we learned about all the local inventors and their achievements. We also looked at the current Town Moor exhibition and were able to play on many of the machines using old pennies! Our photos show the fun we had!
