In Year 2 this week we have been doing circuit challenges to improve our core strength. We have been doing tasks like hoopla hooping, sit ups, shuttle runs, mountain climbers and more. Here are just a few action shots from this afternoon’s session.
In Year 2 we have been reading the story of Beegu who is an alien that has crash landed on Earth. We have been working to think of positive and negative points for either staying on Earth or going home. We have been practising by having a class debate and using persuasive openers.
We were very lucky today to have a judo taster session and the children really enjoyed it! They were taught by a local judo teacher who has clubs on around the area. Children have brought home a leaflet tonight with all of the details about his clubs. Ask them all about their experience today.
Year 2 had an amazing time on their trip to Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens. We got to see a range of different animals from bush dogs to wallabies. To prepare for our trip to Kirkley Hall on Monday, the children have been looking at sorting animals based on what they eat. We have learned about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores, ask us what they mean.
In Year 2 we have been working in our house teams to plan collective worship. We planned how we wanted people to gather in our worship and the items for our focal point. Children were very brave in delivering their worship to others. Well done to all groups.
10 children from Year 2 visited Gateshead Leisure Centre yesterday afternoon to represent St Anne’s in the KS1 athletics festival.
