Our Reception class took part in a graduation ceremony last week, to celebrate all they have achieved throughout the year. Reception and Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic day out to the beach at South Shields. The weather was perfect for a day on the beach, digging holes, building sandcastles, finding shells and paddling in the sea…topped off with an ice cream in the sunshine before heading home.

A huge thank you to our Reception parents for donating lots of cakes and serving at our cake sale. We raised a fantastic £89 at the cake sale. Year 1 and 2 Cookery Club enjoyed making fruit kebabs today. We prepared the fruit by washing, peeling and chopping; kiwi, oranges, grapes, strawberries and pineapple. The children were particularly keen to prepare the fresh pineapple. Of course, eating the fruit kebabs was the best part! We’re all looking forward to next week.
The Reception children are raising money for their chosen charity – Guide Dogs. For one pound donation, the children will get to estimate how many sweets are in the glass. The closest estimate will win the sweets and the adorable puppy. Who will win it? The winner will be revealed at Friday’s Celebration assembly.
Through The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we have been learning about healthy eating…likes and dislikes…and beginning to explore what ‘being healthy’ means. We have been painting fruit and working together to make a fantastic wall display. We have enjoyed learning about ‘bears’ this half term and decided a teddy bear picnic would be just the thing for the end of term. Our lovely Cook made us fish and chips, followed by ice cream…scrumptious and delicious! “This is the best day ever!” said Olivia.
Thank you to all our lovely parent helpers who came with us to the library. It was a lovely day for a walk to the library, chatting about the world around us. We listened to a story together and then chose a book to bring back to school.
The Reception children have enjoyed a super afternoon of Easter fun…making Easter bonnets with family. Making Easter gardens with Jammy Dodgers and mini eggs! Finishing with an egg hunt. Fantastic day…fantastic children!
