A fantastic effort dressing up today for World Book Day in Year 5/6! From wizards to Mary Poppins to evacuees, the children look amazing and are ready for a fun day celebrating books and reading.

This term Year 5/6’s topic is ‘Child’s War’ and we will be focusing on the events which happened during World War 2. This week the children have been studying Judaism and learning about Hanukkah. They have learnt about the story of the oil lamp in the Temple as well as ways that the Jewish community celebrate the Festival of Lights.
The children thought about their families in today’s collective worship. They thought about who is part of their family and why they are special to them. The children helped plan and set up the collective worship.
Reception class have begun their journey in learning to read and write. Each morning they follow Read Write Inc phonics and practice the sounds they learnt throughout the day. They have made an excellent start and Mrs Wadey and I are very proud of them all.
